Is is one of those episodes that was so important to the show. Not because it was major plot device but because it was an episode that, for the most part, was random yet hit every viewer right in the heart.
Why did no one remember her?
Does this episode show what humans are capable of or does this show a side of the doctor never witnessed before?
everyone talks about how RTD could write a terrifying episode without ever showing us a monster, but in reality, he did show us a monster. We never saw the thing on the surface, we never had a face or name to it. It was more of an idea than a tangible thing. But the humans in this episode - that was the monster. How low humans can be, how cruel and dangerous and terrifying. How monstrous we can be.
